No sports for virgins

Posted in Islam, politics, relations with Saudi men,Saudi Arabia, women by Save the Women! on November 18, 2010

Saudi ladies suffer a great deal. They suffer from depression, diabetes, obesity and osteoporosis. The reasons women suffer from ostheoporosis in such a sunny climate is because they hardly go out. If they do they are covered under abayaat, hijaab and niqaab.

There are gyms for ladies in the larger cities. They are mostly in umarked buildings for privacy. it is also dangerous to publicize because the religious police like to close ladies gyms because of their immoral character.
The gyms for men are of course out in the open and very nice.

State girls schools forbid any kind of physical activity.

By conservative people sport for women is seen as immodest. Even immoral.

Why are sports forbidden to women?

According to the grand mufti : ”Women should be housewives, there is no need for them to engage in sports.”

Other clerics argue that sports are absolutely off limits only for virgins, who could become unmarriageable if they were to damage their hymens through athletic activity.

And there we have the crux of the matter.
A woman has only value if she is a virgin.
After losing her virginity she is only good to stay in the house, provide sex and babies for the hsuband. That is her task in life. Nothing else.

And the backward thinking saudies still believe not only that all virgin women have hymens, but also that they all bleed on first sexual intercourse. And that a woman can damage her virginity with sports or even moving around too much.

You even see young women walk very slowly in a weird rolling way. they do so because they believe that walking with a normal stride endangers their virginity: their only asset for which they are valued.
and no sports which would make them strong and healthy. these things are of no importance the only thing which counts is the hymen. A woman has to cover and veil because she is a walking hymen.
The only value of a woman is an undamaged hymen.
When that is damaged she has no value: she is used goods.

No jobs for women

Posted in Islam, politics, religion,Saudi Arabia, women by Save the Women! on November 18, 2010

My former post was about good news from Saudi Arabia.

Now the bad news

The upshot of Panda supermarkets hiring saudi women to work as cashiers has been answered by an official fatwa stating that women are not allowed to work as cashiers. Because they will interact with men.

This fatwa apparently has been approved by the king, so that is an end to his claims to help women become human beings.

For those who don’t know, all sales assistants are male. even in lingerie shops. Saudi women have to buy and discuss their underwear with men, but they are not allowed to sell groceries behind a till. Also the only way a saudi lady can get anywhere is being driven around in her own car by a foreign male driver. Because only humans with dicks are allowed to drive in the kingdom of insanity.
There are two easily understood reasons for this. The sales assistants are foreign men so do not really count as men because no saudi lady would ever start a sexual fling with a foreign man. Also the drivers are foreign so their dicks count to allow them to drive, but not when interacting with a saudi lady.

the other reason is that if saudi women were to make some money on their own that would be the first step to make them independent. The first goal of the saudies is to keep women in their position of slavery.

Owning your own money clashes with that.

So no jobs for women.

Goody Goody Goody

Stuff from Saudi Arabia!

For everybody who keeps telling me to write something positive for a change, here are three goody news items!

14 year old girl rescued from 70 year old pedophile!

There was this little girl in KSA, only 14 years old. She was sold into  sexual slavery marriage to an old man. Her father decided to sell her so he could steal use her mahr. Mahr is the money a new husband pays for having sex with the new wife.  The girl did not get mahr, but the father got money for providing the old pedophile with his 14 year old daughter so he could buy a new car.
The price a 14-year old girl goes for these days is 17,000 Riyals and 100 head of sheep.
Of course the girl did not want to marry a 70 year old pedophile, but in the Kingdom of miracles you can get married without your consent and without even your presence.
The grandparents who have brought the girl up, the father never having cared for her, have succesfully rescued her. For the time being. At the moment she is placed under ownership of her grandfather who has her best interests at heart. Unlike her father who seems to have more interest in a good sale of his property.
As long as the official authorities do not send her back to the 70 year old pedophile the girl is safe. And considering his advanced age I can only  hope the old creep will snuff it within the year.

”We called Noura’s father in order to look into the facts of the case, and he confirmed the union but said that it was with the blessing of his daughter,” Bin Labda said.
After “confirming the truth of the complaint”, Bin Labda said that Noura was placed in the care of her grandfather, while her father was required to sign a pledge that she would remain there and that he would “refrain from any form of violence or force to make her go to her husband until official authorities in the town had ruled on the issue”.
Bin Labda added that the regional governor of Sabya had been informed.

I think it was in her advantage that the grandfather complained. A grandfather is a man. In cases where only the mother complained of the sale of her daughter the outcome is usually bleak.

What happens to all the girls who have nobody to save them from sexual slavery to old men? What happens to these girls when the old men finally die?

Disobedient woman rescued from prison sentence

Samar Badawi is a 29 year old divorced mother who has been sitting in a Saudi jail without a trial and without being charged for the last seven months. She has been accused of “filial ingratitude”.
In Saudi speak that means that when her father abused her, when he refused to allow her to marry, when his guardianship was being used to prevent her from seeking a safe and fulfilling life of her own, she – according to the judge who sent her to jail – was disobedient in seeking a court order to remove him as guardian.

Women can go to court to try and move their ownership to a better guardian, but you see the result: prison for the ”crime” of disobedience.

However, a sustained media campaign was started. A face book page was created, and thousands of twitters flew through cyberspace. This media attention finally led to her release from prison.
Ownership of her person has been transferred to her uncle.

What happens to the women who do not get this support and media attention?

Jeddah Pink Ribbon gets into the Guinnes Book of Records!

Here in Jeddah an estimated 6000 women gathered to break the German Guinness book of records number of women forming a pink ribbon.
There has been a lot of media and internet attention to promote awareness of breast cancer. Women here are not aware of breastcancer and even if the suspicion would come up they would hide it. I think many women are afraid to loose the little value they have once it is discovered they have the flaw of breast cancer or worse, have had a mastectomy. I have observed once or twice that indeed they have lost their value.

But, imagine what an achievement! In saudi no less! read susie of arabia’s excellent article for all the details. Imagine the hurdles saudi women had to overcome for this event! Hurdles unique to saudi and which women outside of the kingdom have no idea of!

Large congregations of people are discouraged. Men and women are not allowed to ”mingle” (that includes occupying the same public space), Organisations outside of  government, and without government consent are forbidden. The stadium was for men only. For this event the stadium was forbidden to men! Women are hidden beneath layers of black cloth and ”protected”, only with the express allowance of their owners would they be allowed to even participate. There is no public transport and women are not allowed to drive. So every single woman had to be driven there by a male driver who was not allowed to mingle with any other woman. The religious authorites objected. Law enforcement  objected. City government objected.
While this event could never have taken place without major massive Royal support,.

It is inspiring to see what women can accomplish in saudi if only they are given the chance to!!!!!

The story of an escape

beating women is considered a duty for many Islamic men. This is not unique, Many Imams preach this every friday.

Free Samar!

Posted in Uncategorized by Save the Women! on October 19, 2010

Samar Badawi is a Saudi women who has done nothing wrong in any way. Her only problem is a father who dislikes her, and a judicial system which is not based on laws, but on the personal opinions of a judge.

Samars father abused her physically and mentally. She married, had a son, but her husband also beat her up and she managed to divorce him. (Of itself this is quite an achievement in Saudi )

She is now imprisoned indefinitely for the crime of ”disobedience to her father”.
There are a lot of Saudi people who are upset by this unfair treatment and are trying everything in their power to help this woman.
The best thing they can do is make this case as public as possible.
In the end it will probably have to be some royal or the king who can issue a release for her.

This is what Saudi Jeans wrote about this case:

Samar Badawi has always struggled with her father. He abused her verbally and physically, and even after she got married and had a son of her own, he kept interfering with her life. She got divorced, and decided to live with her brother. The father tried to sue his son and daughter, who was taken to a women’s shelter thanks to an order from Prince Mishal bin Majed, the mayor of Jeddah.

The father did not stop there. He tried to sue Samar again, but the case was dismissed. After staying in the shelter for sixteen months, she sent a letter to the mayor asking for permission to live with her son. The mayor accepted her request, and asked the police to protect her from the father.

Samar filed a lawsuit to lift her father’s guardianship, and the court ruled in her favor. The father filed a “filial ingratitude” complaint against her. When she went to challenge the complaint, “the judge pledged to teach her obedience and flog her himself.” Despite the previous court rulings and her father’s documented abuse, and even a royal order from Prince Khalid al-Faisal, governor of Makkah, to send her back to the shelter, the judge sent her to prison.

Samar told the Financial Times that the judge thinks a woman must submit to her father, regardless of how abusive he is. “Conservative judges hate the government’s women’s shelters because they empower women. They call them brothels,” she said.

This was six months ago. It was only last week that Samar and her lawyer decided to go public with the case. Since the local newspapers won’t pick up a sensitive story like this one, they went online. With help of fellow blogger Fouad al-Farhan, they set up a blog where they told Samar’s story and uploaded all the documents of her case. The case was also heavily discussed on Twitter, where users in Saudi Arabia used the hashtag #samar to denote their tweets about it.

While Samar enjoyed a lot of support from most users on Twitter, there have been some people who defended the judge, saying the case is being used to attack the Saudi judicial system. Moreover, a blog was to “basically show how the people responsible for the news breakout are not credible, liberal westernizers,” according Lou K.

Earlier today, Samar’s lawyer Waleed Abu Alkhair tweeted that the Supreme Judicial Council has opened an investigation into the case, anticipating a resolution in the next few days.

Samar’s story is undoubtedly a disturbing, heartbreaking one. It’s surely nor over yet, but now that the case is — I hope — moving forward, let me take a moment to say two of things about this:

  • The case shows that despite all the promises and the billions of riyals allocated to reform the judiciary system, we are still so far away from anywhere near a true reform for this institution. It’s been three years, and we are yet to see any tangible progress.
  • While many people still like to question the power of web and social media to make a difference to our society, this case offers a good evidence that the influence of online tools can be effective. Remember, the story was not picked up by any newspaper in Saudi Arabia so far.

I salute Fouad, Waleed and the others who supported this case. It fills my heart with hope to see many of my countrymen and women speak up and refuse to ignore injustice. Our nation deserves better than this, and we should never settle for less.

Saudi judges come from Sharia schools. Sharia schools takes the men with the lowest grades in the country. If your grades are too low for any decent study your last option is Sharia school. These men then become judges. Saudi has virtually no codified system of  law. There is no jurisprudence in Saudi.

A saudi judge makes up any punishment he likes, based on his personal likes and dislikes. They generally do not like women. They do like bribes. They also really like to hand out lashings.

This is also something western women need to realise when they marry saudi men and go to live in saudi. You will be at the complete merci of the man who owns you by law. if you are treated badly, if you are abused and beaten, if your daughter is married off to an old man at 8 years, if you rae being kept from visiting you family and friends, there is no one who will help you in any way. The law does not exist. A judge will almost always rule in favour of the man unless you have immense wasta and or bribe money.

informing on ”dependents”

Posted in politics, relations with Saudi men, women by Save the Women! on August 14, 2010

You see, in Saudi Arabia all women are always a ”dependent”.  no matter they are old, if they have a job, or if they are clever, they legally are only dependent children.’They are always listed on the family card as ”dependent”.

Women are default not capable.

So what happens is that when a slave woman, (or sponsored employee), wants to leave the country, the owner MAN gets a text message to let him know some of his property dependents are leaving the country.
The only reason for this can only be that the owners MEN are warned when their property dependents try to escape.

Just to make this clear: a woman is in essence a slave. and if she tries to escape her owner will be warned and will be able to stop her leaving the country.
When what?
she managed to forge his letter ”allowing” her to leave the country?
No woman can leave the Kingdom of Hypocrisy without a letter of her jailer stating that HE allows her to leave.

I wonder they don’t tag us, or clamp bracelets with gps on us. Or chip us. and maybe a tattoo or brand? To make sure our proper owner can always find us?

I see the future before me: Baby girls chipped at birth with gps and information on who owns her. That information to be adjusted when she is sold married.

Marriage and money pays for sex

Posted in child bride,Islam, relations with Saudi men, religion,Saudi Arabia, women by Save the Women! on July 30, 2010

Officially people will state that mahr is an expression of the husband of his love and appreciation of his to be bride.

In sharia law you will see it is different. I am sorry but Mahr (or faridah) is indeed money paid for sexual acces.
In case the wife asks for divorce she will also have to pay back the mahr, even though sex has taken place. Officially this should not be but in reality sharia courts will demand it. If they grant divorce to a woman at all.
Divorced muslim women will also loose their children to the father always. They are property of the father.
Also the father has to pay no maintenance for a divorced wife except the three months after divorce. These three months are to see if the woman is not pregnant. If she is she will have to give that child to the father also.
It seems to be expected that the woman will then be able to sell herself again for board and upkeep to another man.

If she does not manage to attract another man and she has no family willing to look after her she will have nothing.
The word niqah means only ”marriage” in the marriage document. In all other use of the word in arabic language it means ”penetration”

The fact that Mahr is meant as money paid for sex follows from the following:
– there should be no sex until the promised mahr has been paid fully, although some modern women ask for only part of their mahr, the rest to be paid in case of divorce.
Don’t forget that her mahr is the only provision a wife will have in case of divorce.
-Although some scholars say that the mahr should be paid after consummation.
-In case of death before consummation the widow will have to give back half the mahr to the family of the diseased husband.
-In case of no consummation her guardian can also forgive all the mahr
-It is haram to enjoy relations with a wife and then deny her the mahr when she demands (sounds very much like sex for money doesn’t it?)

One author of the Hanafi School defines the mahr as “the money, which is obligatory on the husband in ikd al-nikah (the marriage contract) for manafi’ al-bid’ (sexual pleasure). (See ibn al-Hamam, Sharih Fath al-Qadeer, vol. 3, p. 304, Arabic version).

The Hanbali School of jurisprudence defines mahr as “the money paid by the husband for the purpose of nikah (marriage). (See ibn Kadamah, Al-Mughni, vol. 6, p. 679, Arabic version).

The Malike and Shafi’i Schools defines the mahr as “the money due to the future wife in return for [the husband’s] haqq al-isstimta’ (sexual pleasure) in the marriage contract”. (See al-Hattab Muhammad bin Abdel Rahman al-Mughrabi, Mawahib al-Jalil li-Sharh Mukhtassar Khalil, vol. 5, p. 172-Maliki Jurisprudence). For Shafi’i School see al-Nawawi, Kitab al-Majmu’, vol. 18 p. 605). All these references are cited by Sheikh Mahmud Muhammad al-Sheikh, Al-Mahr fi Al-Islam bayna al-madi wal-hadir, published by al-Maktaba al-Assriyya liltibaa’a wal nashr, Beirut, Lebanon, 2003, Arabic version.
The Maliki and Shafi’i Schools of jurisprudence regard the mahr as “the money paid for the future wife in return for sexual pleasure is an integral part of the Islamic marriage contract and its source is prescribed in the Qur’an

The Maliki School regards a marriage to be legal if it was consummated. If the marriage was not consummated, then the marriage is mafsookh (a reason for separation); if he divorces his wife without any agreement on the mahr issue, then he has to pay her mut’ah (money paid to her in return for the sexual pleasure he had with her). But if he dies before any agreement reached between the couple, then the wife is entitled to inherit her share from his estate.

Stoning

Posted in honour killing,Islam, politics, rape, religion, religious police,The Evil that Men do,women by Save the Women! on June 25, 2010

(edit: I changed the photo with a still from a movie)

One of the really barbaric punishments in Sharia law is stoning.
Stoning is a death sentence by barbaric long drawn out torture.

The Stoning of Soraya M (movie)

I have read that according to Iran’s Islamic penal code, men convicted of adultery should be buried up to their waists and women up to their chests for stoning.  favoured when it comes to stoning!
The little detail is that: to make the fun of stoning more interesting for the murderous mob of sick evil men there is one way of escaping death: if the victim manages to get out they escape death.

So they give the men a hell of an advantage here. Because you wouldn’t want a woman to escape! Actually, eyewitnesses have reported that in the rare cases a woman does manage to get out she gets shot.
Because a woman is always sinful? Because they don’t want to disappoint the men? Imagine having to let the poor guys go home without the pleasure of seeing a woman die. Imagine the detrimental effect on the women folk if they were to hear about a woman who escaped? Women might start to think?

Women in misogynist religions/cultures only exist to please the men. By being sex-objects, by being punch balls, and by being the dying entertainment at a barbaric mob killing.
Sharia law makes this very clear in its wicked satanic bias against women.

Any religion, any religion! which supports the sick male idea that women are second rate and should be treated as such is evil! And definitely MAN made!

Another ”divine” rule is that stones shouldn’t be large enough to kill the victim immediately.
The idea is slow death by painful torture. What if the victim would escape pain and suffering and die immediately? That clearly would not please Allah.
What kind of god puts up rules to kill and having them tortured while they are dying?
What kind of god rises up his subjects into a frenzy of mob-tortuous-killing???
What kind of god takes pleasure in evil?
Not a ”compassionate god” If you read the sharia law you can only come to the conclusion Allah is a mean misogynist little man. Not a god at all. A small-minded misogynist man. And lets not forget we got the religion of Islam by the word of one man.

There is nothing divine about a religion, or law, which singles out women as the evil ones, the stupid ones, the ones to be forced into insane covering and beaten and blackmailed and disregarded and raped and tortured and killed for the entertainment of men.
There is also a psychological angle to the mass effort needed in stoning or beating a woman to death. It bonds the men together. it proves to them that women are inferior. And if they felt any doubts about the morality, or evil done: they are made accomplices.

Any religion/culture which endorses this is sick.
Is backward.
Is barbaric.
Is following Satan.
not God.

Saudi law to stop childmarriage?

Posted in child abuse, child bride,Islam, politics, religion, women by Save the Women! on June 13, 2010

There has been news in saudi arabia of the intent to issue new marriage contracts that require the age of the bride to be given. As an attempt to stop underage girls from marrying.

Human rights groups have welcomed the new measures, saying clear-cut rules were needed to ensure underage girls were not harmed.

Laudable plans indeed but in saudi it means nothing. We keep hearing every year that ”women will be driving soon!”
For the last 20 years….
We will be hearing this for the next 50 years. ”Underage girls will be prohibited from being married”.
And what if this would actually become law? There is no real law system in saudi arabia, judges are allowed to make up punishments as they please. (And it very often pleases them to give out public lashings.)  But it also pleases them to take bribes. all the men who participated in the sale of an underage girl to a pedophile would have to do is shove some extra money towards the judge and he will turn a blind eye or have the papers faked.
Girls are married off against their will quite often in Saudi Arabia and no judge protects them. It also happens that another girl, all veiled, acts as the bride and agrees in her name. The real bride being locked up at home. Who is to tell the difference?
I am afraid the selling of girls to pedophile husbands will not be stopped anytime soon…

“There is a serious drive by the [justice] ministry to determine an age for girls to marry following the recent reporting of older men marrying young girls,” an official told the Saudi-based Arab News newspaper.

The National Society for Human Rights welcomed the new measures.

“The marriage of underage girls has been in the limelight for the past three years,” said NSHR chairman Mufleh Al-Qahtani.

“A number of lawsuits have also been filed to stop fathers marrying off their underage girls to older men.”

In February a 12-year-old girl decided to stay married to an 80-year-old man, after initially filing for divorce.

A $22,600 (£14,174) dowry had been paid to her father just months before.

In 2008, the case of an eight-year-old girl who was married to a 50-year-old man was revealed when the child’s mother tried to annul the marriage.

Defenders of child marriage say the practice is part of Saudi culture.
